My gram passed away!

My gram died. I am really sad, ofcourse, but even worse was watching her shut down. she had her mind until the end, it was her body. She would breath only 3 times a minute while in a comotose state but her throat still pulsed. Her breaths were deep and raspy, the death rattle I guess they call it. I miss her so much, and the fact that logan will only know how great gram was from me and not expereince her more. That being said, I think that how logan is now and is to become is influenced by every experience.

napping

So sorry I havent been on for a while. It seems that when Jeff is home we spend time together instead of me hanging solo when logan goes to bed. Lets start off with the most wonderful thing in the whole world napping. The only thing better then a nap is a nap with Logan. We snoozed after work for 2 glorious hours. He then didnt go to bed until 9 30 tonight but it was SOOOO worth it. After I put on his diaper and PJs he grabbed his blanket and sippy and ran into my room and tugged on the bed to get up. When Jeff isnt home Im pretty relaxed about him sleeping with me but only when he wakes up through the night. I did let him lay down with me though, im such a softy, and moved him into his bed when he was asleep.

Logan is starting to say all kids of words. His latest is "bird" which he pronounces buuurd. It is so cute. He also says mama of course :), dada, cheese, boo, no, ouch ouch ouch. LOL he says ouch and puts his finger between a crack. haha he is cute. He also repeats words that Im not sure if he knows how to say or repeats so well "sit down" and "bye bye".

I am a real slacker when it comes to blogging when Jeff is home. I think its because I actually spend adult time together after logan goes to bed. We had a bet that Fathers day was this sunday and I was wrong. I bet $100 on it, and jeff wants to cash it in. If I do double or nothing and loose that is $200 down the tubes LOL. We had a fabulous weekend filled with trips to the park, staining our deck and even a date night (dinner and a movie). It was a great weekend with lots of sun. In a couple of weeks I go to Ottawa and mom and Logan are coming with me (Jeff is back to work). I am excited. When I went to NFLD without Logan it was very sad. Every one thinks it is a vacation but I dont. Its hard to leave your little baby. He misses his mama and probably more i miss him. Maybe i will feel differently if we are lucky enough to have more kids and they are older. Logan actually said "thank you" clear as day at Jeffs uncles house. It was so darn cute- I think I have the best baby ever!

random thought

I just can't imagine letting my baby cry for hours to teach him to sleep at night. Some people can do it, and all the power to them, but not this Mama. I vow to pick my baby up and cuddle him any time he needs it any hour of the night :)

This morning was so cute. We didn't have enough time for high chair breakfast so I take an English muffin to go, and so does Logan. BUT Logan really wanted a sit down breakfast and kept trying to climb up his high chair and pointing at it yelling. Then he dragged the chair over to me trying to butter our muffins. LOL. Poor guy must have been starving (as always)

Johnny Miles resurected

So I haven't been running after work for a because the weather has been crappy, I have been too tired after working out during the day I just want to play, and I bought a bike trailer for Logan so we tend to bike around. Today is the bluenose marathon and I have some friends running. One of them has a baby 6 months younger then Logan and she is running a 5k. She is always so inspiring - one of the nicest people I know, who has stood up for me when I felt like I was alone. She is so fantastic -shout out to my bud http://angiealltheway.blogspot.com/ and also Megs who finished a half maraton in a fantastic time-she rocks!!!So I am re inspired and my goal of the Johnny miles 5km in one month. Today my mom has Logan so I went for a run. I thought i was doing awesome almost ran the whole 3km came back and looked i was 25 mins. I remember running 5km at 29mins but I think that is unrealistic for me now. My new goal is 5km in 35 mins pushing Logan. I have one month. Wish me luck!!!

oh the guilt!

I was really looking forward to a trip to NFLD with work. I was going to go to the meeting then meet hubby and son in Gros Morne (which i always wanted to visit) but it just didnt work out. So I am going away for 2 nights /3 days with Logan home. I also feel horrible because Jeff comes home Friday and then I leave Monday. Logan isnt confortable with him totally because he doesnt see him ofton. I think Logan is going to be super stressed out which stresses me out. Logan loves routine and Jeff wants to keep him home instead of going to the sitters. Poor Logan.

isnt it ironic

It was brought to my attention that the title of my blog "roxys crazy life" is completely misleading. LOL. My life is really boring, and thats how I like it. I like just playing all day with my little guy and watching tv before I go to bed. I have some good friends, and go out once in a while, but now my life consists of playgroup, swim lessons, pooh and snots. Wouldnt change it...well i could do with less snots LOL.

Logan is sick...again. This is a constant cycle at this daycare. He may or may not have had pink eye again, and has a bad cough. He was coughing all night. Poor guy.

My hands...

Logan is so funny, so silly and so smart. He moves my hands where he wants them. If there is a toy out of reach he pulls my hand to get it. If he is cuddling and wants me to draw circles on his hand he pulls it there. Then he will pull it to his head so I will stroke his cheek and he will go to sleep. If he wants the babygate open he puts my hand on the handle. If he is hungry he puts my hand on the refrigerator. My hand is an extension of his hand. Someday he will have bigger hands then me, until then he can get by with mine :)

Mamas Day weekend

What a weekend. First off being a mom is the best thing in the whole world- I love it. Mothers day means a whole lot to me. Friday we went straight to PC and I went to visit one of my best friends in the hospital. Saturday Logan and I went to visit her again, and then came home for a lobster mothers day lunch. But by this time Logan had a full out cough and runny nose. Then when we went to a bday party at 4 he was so tired we left soon after. He always sleeps when he is sick so I knew a bad sign. Then his eye started to goop - this is the start of pink eye. We went to visit his grammy and nanny on Jeff's side and he was feeling better but very sooky. Jeffs mom suggested he has a hip problem and is walking odd, but i think he is walking great. Sure with sneakers he isn't as great and he is a late bloomer but he is doing great! Finally we had a family BBQ that was crashed by my uncles family (but there was enough food).

When I got home Jeff had hid a card and a new purse for mamas day. He got logan to put his fingerprint on there too - so cute. Couple this with the card my mom and logan made and this was another wonderful mamas day.

DQ

Today was a pretty good day except tonight when I went to the DQ and they didnt know about the new blizzard of the month- Chocolate german brownie. It sounded so good- coconut, brownie, peacans, carmel - mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. So I wrote an email to the company to see what is up with that. How dissapointing!

Logan is doing really good. He is walking around everywhere now. Tomorrow we are going for a walk (not a jog) so we will see if he tries to escape the stroller LOL. Love this kiddo!

I zipped up Logans jacket and his little neck chub got cought in it. Mama felt HORRIBLE - poor little guy. I will never make that mistake again. He got over it quicker then I did.

Roxys weekend

I had a fabulous weekend. It started on Friday. I was exhausted after the work week and Logan hadn't napped yet so we took a nice snooze together. Then woke up, ate and went downstairs to play. Logan was stacking blocks, 3 or 4 at a time! How fabulous. When I stack them up he doesn't knock them over right away. He kind of studies it, pushes them just a bit, take the top one off, on, off, on and then knock it sometimes. Perhaps an engineer? or a crane operator? who knows, but I am NOT in a hurray to think of Logan all grown up (insert sobs here). Saturday morning we went outside for Logan to play on his battery operated tractor. He was going up and down the driveway with me running behind him.

In the afternoon we met my mom and dad in truro for Logan to go for a sleepover so I could go to a friends bachlorette. I was the decoy so we went for supper and then to her house where a crowd of pink boas and shots were waiting. The ladies and I took a limo to the lower deck. I was never in a limo - oh lala champagne and music. It was super fun. My good friend whom I haven't seen in forever also met us at the pub. FUN! I got home at 4am and went to sleep until 12:30pm - oh it was a glorious 8 1/2 hours of sleep straight. I felt so good (probably why I am still up at 11pm). In the 24 hours Logan was at Grammys I dyed my hair (well half of it, missed a lot of spots oh and the white wall as well), bought groceries (I never go to the grocery store), washed, dried, folded, and put away about 2 tonnes of laundry, put away the dishes, cancelled the extra cable packages we don't use, cleaned up our rooms, and took out the garbage and recycling (Well meant to - instead I put it in the car and drove it to Truro). When I went to pick Logan up he was so excited, and I was too.

rock me like a hurricane

So I rock my baby to sleep every night.

We have a bedtime routine involving brushing his teeth, putting on PJs, reading brown bear and the new baby calf, then I shut the light out and rock him to sleep for about 5 mins. Maybe a bit longer if I fall asleep too. People say I am heading down a slippery slope and he will now need a crutch to fall asleep. To them I say perhaps BUT in the now we can both sleep and function the next day. I mean, people dont need to be rocked to sleep when the are 45 so they do grow out of it. The one thing I cant stop myself from doing is kissing him when he is sleeping. Heehee, he is so darn cute, how can I resist???????????????????????????

Taxes

Today we went to our accountant and got the tax bomb. We already owe not only an arm and a leg but the other ones as well. Uggg if you have never had CRA breathing down your neck you are lucky. It started a few years ago when they decided hubby didn't live in Ab it was NS, then he got audited again, then HR block screwed us by saying we were getting 10K back but then called a few days later saying we actually owed 15k - both were in accurate and our accountant is trying to fix that mistake. Then every year we owe (because hubby works overseas and doesn't pay into taxes through the year) and the cycle continues. This year is no exception and I owe too because I was off on matleave and got topped up by my company. So stressful. I think I will try and get a loan from the bank to avoid the CRA wrath. Not sure if we will ever catch up and get ahead. But I told hubby this is OUR year to catch up - and put all of our extra cash on these bills. The hard part is hubby is a BIG spender. He works hard and wants to play hard too- but I am hoping that he will commit to paying all of this off.

I'm so sad hubby left today. We had a fantastic visit - I felt like we were just dating again, it was so nice. I never want to wish time away, but generally a month flies by.

Easter weekend

We had a fabulous weekend! First off I had Friday off. I took my little guy to his first easter hunt. He did fabulous- found 7 eggs. There were tones of kids there and he did great. After that we went visiting, but noone was home (thats the problem with the drop-in). Then came playdate #2 - all our playgroup which I havent seen since my disasterous playdate at my house. All the kids were so big, and finally playing together. They were so cute. Still on Friday, we burned to our hometown and was late to an extended family gathering. Pheewww we were tired!

Saturday we went to my FIL easter dinner, which was a pizza party at a local shop. It was fun! Then we dropped Logan off at grammys (my mom) and went to our good friends place until 1:30am. Then I stayed at MIL with hubby and got up early to go ATVing with more friends. It was about 2.5 hours each way and I was 2 hours late for Easter supper. It was so exciting to see our Logan after a whole night and day not seeing him. He was very excited too. We came home and had our easter this morning. Then we went to vote.

Ahhhh what a great weekend. Too bad hubby leaves tomorrow :(

bagpipes

So I am trying to learn the bagpipes. I was never good at it, but do enjoy it (similar to swimming). I have not played for the last 2 years so decided it was time to pick them up again, starting with the chanter. Hubby picked up Logan at 4pm and I stayed in town and went to a womens house for the lessons. She is super nice and wouldnt even accept payment until we get into the bagpipes. I did a million times better then I though I have a LONG way to go. I really have to practice hard to get my fingers to work again. Also, I have to go pick up a harder chanter reed. I blow so hard my chanter cuts out. It is so frustrating. I will keep practicing though.



This is me playing at my friends wedding. The pic is good but It was pretty much one of the most embarressing moments. My mouth was so dry (nerves) that I kept choking meaning no sound would come out. Oh well - live and learn. They were very nice to still smile when I played :)

After lessons I went to Zumba - it is intense but so fun. Today I am going to the gym at lunch to do a run. I know the treadmill is not the same as outside but it is the same leg movements. Maybe if its nice tonight I will take Logan for a run but its cold and rainy here today.

Shin-y shin shin

First off, I love this picture of my little guy - He LOVES his pooh bear and will even share his milk.

Yesterday I bundled baby up and went for a jog (lots of ear protection). It was really nice outside. I tried to do 1 min of walking and 2 mins of jogging. I only got to 13 mins then had to walk the remaining 7 home. My shins were sore despite stretching. Hubby is skeptical that I will be ready for the race in June. He may be right, but I am still going to try. Plus I want Logan to see how important exercise is. He is doing great after being on his medication. Totally back to normal.

Hubby is trying to get Logan to sleep in his own bed during the night (he tries every time he is home). I certainly let him slide if he is having an off day, or sick, or cries through the night LOL. OK perhaps I sabotage the whole ordeal, but really whats the big deal? I always put Logan in his own bed until at least midnight. This gives me time to clean up, have a shower and sleep myself, or if hubby is home this is our snuggle time. Then if Logan cries I don't have to keep going in there, I just put him beside me. It was very convenient when we were breastfeeding and comforting to both of us now. I admit, I do enjoy it - but will try and carry out Jeffs suggestions, at least while he is home. Jeff said he only has a 49% share in Logan because I make all the decisions. Hhahaha.

worst mom ever!

Yesterday I was suppose to run (although I did go to zumba at lunch) again but didnt get a chance as I took my little guy to the doctors. He was running a fever that afternoon and just wasnt himself for a week. He was just getting over the flu and just getting a cold. He had a double ear infection poor guy. I felt like the worst mom ever- I mean how did I let him go for a week in pain. I just thought he was getting over the flu and getting a cold. Now with the meds (just 2 doses) he is a totally different kid.

Hello World!

Hello World!

I have a goal to run in a 5km race in two months. I have to start training, I am so out of shape. The race is the Johnny Miles Marathon in Pictou County.

Day 1 (Tuesday): I ran for 2 mins and walked for 2 mins 7 times, then walked for 7 mins. I am sore, glad I am taking today off of gym/running. My little guy loves to run in the stroller. He would kick the stroller while I was walking.

My hubby comes home today so babe and I are going to the airport now!
